An Underutilized Tool to Avoid DUI This Season

Often, simple steps can help prevent a DUI arrest. During the holiday season, your chances of being arrested for DUI are much higher, and therefore, it makes sense during this time of the year at least, to use all the technologies and tools that are available to help avoid an arrest.

For instance, in California, the state administration has a DUI app that very few motorists even know of. The app is called the DDVIP and has been available for a few months now. The app is very similar to a number of similar apps that have been released around the country by state administrations. For instance, Maryland also has a app called EnDUI which allows persons to call a taxi service, when they are too intoxicated to drive.

California's app also works on a similar premise. The app is promoted by the California Highway Patrol and the California Office of Traffic Safety. Basically, it allows persons to connect with taxi services, when they are too drunk to drive home. The app also includes special offers and discounts for designated motorists, across commercial drinking establishments including restaurants and bars in California.

Apart from the California DUI app, there are a number of other apps that have also been designed especially to discourage impaired driving this season. For instance, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has its own SaferRide app, which allows persons to get in touch with taxi services or friends, when they need a ride home. This is a much more user-friendly app, in the sense, that it provides friends or taxi services, directions to the person's location if he's too drunk to guide them to his location.

Make use of the large variety of users-friendly technologies out there, including breathalyzers, apps, and other devices to help reduce the risk of a DUI arrest this season.
